I was actually going to send it to you and then I saw your comment, and I meant to respond much earlier but... This keeping a blog is harder than it looks :-) I don't know how you manage, esp as HighPeaks is such an excellent informative blog too. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks.

Wangden la, I actually just found out from Robbie Barnett that there are some children's books in Bhutan with word separation. And now I find out from you other texts may be aerated as well! This is exciting indeed. Do you mean newspapers? (Or academic papers?) And as for incorporating vocabulary, yes, we should do whatever enriches our language, and improves its capacity for communication, clarity, depth and beauty while maintaining its integrity. Apparently English has some 30,000-50,0000 words that come from French!Jhutokhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14297671968573914741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3042400210648814771.post-62224517906004158192010-02-02T06:33:29.149-05:002010-02-02T06:33:29.149-05:00Also to enrich our lexicon, we need to incorporate...Also to enrich our lexicon, we need to incorporate words being used in various parts of Tibet and Tibetan cultural areas like Bhutan, Mon, Ladakh, Sikkim etc. These places use many words we now consider old. Recently I found tibetan books in Majnukatila that incorporates lots of words from Amdo and Kham dialects. It was exciting to read them. Changes like this will help make Tibetan language common language for all people who are historically Tibetan. It will really ease reading and encourage more to read Tibetan if we impliment simple change like using word separation. In fact this is being done in Bhutan. I find it easier to read Dzongka papers than Tibetan specially the once produced in exile community. Jamyang Norbu la has also once written about it. Change is necessary for survival of our language.
